According to The Catholic Encyclopedia: “The word [liturgy]itself means public service or function done on behalf of the people. The sacred liturgy is the public worship that Christ, as divine Head of the Church, gives to God the Father, and that which the faithful of Christ give to Christ and through Him to God, the Father. It is thus the public worship by the mystical body. Its purpose is the greater glory of God and the sanctification (making holy) of all people . . . .The liturgy is defined as “the worship of God by His Church.”
St. Jerome’s Liturgical Committee is an advisory body which guides liturgical planning and proper liturgical celebration for the parish.
