Family and Friends, St. Jerome Parish takes pride in a tradition of 60 years of vibrant parish life and exemplary Catholic education. Our parish doors are also open to Archdiocesan and regional activities. Children and youth from throughout the Westside communities utilize our gymnasium for Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sports. Our parish continues to grow both in number of families and in participation in ministry. Yet, as the years have progressed, our facilities and infrastructure have not kept pace with the needs of our community.
RESTORATION OF PARISH HALL AND GYMNASIUM AND PARISH GROUNDS
In 2007 the parish inaugurated plans for a major renovation of the Parish Social Hall and Gymnasium, and parish parking lot and grounds. A fundraising capital campaign was begun under the direction of Community Counseling Service (CCS). An architect, Mr. Dan Young of Young & Schindler Inc., was engaged to design the needed improvements and additions to our facilities. A construction management company, Stonemark Construction Management, Inc., was retained to oversee the construction process. At the point when one half of the needed funds were raised, and the remainder committed in pledges, the Archdiocesan Construction Department gave permission for construction documents to be drawn up and bids to be taken. The Construction firm of Vancrest Construction Corp. was selected to undertake this project, and work commenced in June, 2008. The projected time of completion is the end of January of 2010.
PROJECT BUDGET
The total cost of the project is $3,216,913, which includes the fundraising costs for the capital campaign. The total amount of cash received through December 1, 2009 is $2,049,453. The remaining portion of the project cost is in pledges still to be received. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has agreed to extend a line of credit for that portion still dependent on pledges, a loan that must be repaid within the next three to five years. We are deeply grateful to the parish families who have offered a pledge or gift for this historic work. We sincerely ask our remaining families to consider making a pledge or one-time gift to enable us to meet the project costs. This restoration work will benefit all our parish families for many years to come.
Sincerely yours in Christ,

Msgr. Norman Priebe
