Adults as well as students in the fifth grade and up are trained to assist the celebrant during liturgies.

This is a wonderful ministry with which to introduce children to Jesus’s call of active service.

ALTAR SERVER ATTENDANCE

1. You are encouraged to arrive at the Sacristy no later than fifteen minutes before mass begins. If you arrive later than five miniutes before Mass begins and I have found a substitute, you will be marked absent.
2. If you cannot serve you must arrange for a substitute.
3. If you miss serving at two masses and no prearranged substitute arrives, your continued participation in the ministry will be discussed with you.
4. If you miss more than two masses and no prearranged substitute arrives, your participation in the Altar Server trip at the end of the school year may be in question.
5. If you get a sub or trade assignment, please let me know who the person is that will be serving in your place.

ALTAR SERVER Dress Guidlines

BOYS

• White or plain light-colored shirt (because designs are visible through the cassocks).
• Dark slacks.
• Dark dress shoes. No sport shoes of any kind.

Girls

• White or plain light-colored blouse or dress (no shorter than school shorts).
• Dark skirt (no shorter than school shorts) or slacks
• Dark dress shoes. No sport shoes of any kind.
• Hair ties or clips to hold hair behind ears (for candle safety).

Remember: We always want to be at our best, in behavior and in dress, while we are serving in the house of God.
